Gallery Attendant volunteer responsibitilies

Time Committment:
Flexible--it is recommended that you volunteer for at least two time slots a month for 8 months of the year. Most volunteers choose a consistent day and time to volunteer. For example-- every other Friday from 2:30-6:00.

Responsibilities--Your principal goal is to keep the art safe:
Arrive on time
Be present in the galleries, spending ost of your time walking through the various rooms
Be mindful of all museum visitors
Monitor the art and exits (see gallery policies below)
Provide information to visitors when asked
Limit your time on your electronic devices when there are guests present
Stay in the galleries unless you take a break; if there are visitors in the gallery let the person at the desk know that you will be away
Training Requirments:
Attend one day Volunteer Training workshop
General Gallery Policies for All Visitors:
Please do not touch the art
Please do not lean on the walls or cases
Please do not run in the galleries
Please do not bring umbrellas, backpacks or large bags into the galleries. Check these items at the welcome desk
Please do not chew gum or bring food or liquid into the gallery
Photography is allowed, but no flash
Cell phones should be silenced. If you need to conduct a converstion, please do so outside of the gallery
Pens, paint, and other wet media and glitter are not allowed but pencil, pastels and other dry media are
